Review: La Panga Antigua Restaurant and Bar

Looking for an old world colonial ambiance and setting in Cabo San Lucas? Referred to as ‘Cabo’s best kept secret,’ La Panga Antigua Restaurant & Bar cannot be beat. Their menu boasts a 5 star regional season cuisine based on daily choices of the freshest seafood available. The lovely exterior includes terraces and an outdoor courtyard where you can enjoy the perfect Cabo weather. And word is, their service is superb.

Chef and co-owner Jacobo Turquie has gained a reputation for serving dishes which demonstrate attention only he can. Numerous local hotels, when asked for suggestions, make La Panga their only referral. With guest comments like ‘A wonderful blend of local ingredients with creative and appropriate seasonings, all with a lovely presentation,’ visitors to Cabo can’t go wrong when making La Panga their lunch or dinner choice.

What makes it better? Knowing that La Panga Antigua also supports various local and state government programs to provide food to local children.

Cabo Shopping – Everything You Need?

Of course, you can walk down to the Cabo Marina any day of the week, and see booming businesses with shopping, world-class brands, and restaurants. You can walk up the streets of Cabo San Lucas – and find tons of fine artists shops, jewelry designers, and local artisans. We’ve got Artisano’s (home doo dads and artistic gifts and more!) as well as furniture stores with full service interior design services.

Tourists are covered with tee-shirts and curios, sea-shell jewelry, hand-painted glassware and Mexican dresses.

We’ve got supermarkets and fresh produce markets, as well as a Costco and Home Depot! This is great for those of us who live in Cabo or have retire in Cabo San Lucas – because if you’re from America – you MUST have a Costco.

But what do you think we need here in Cabo?

What do you think Cabo is lacking in the shopping department or things to do? I think we need a store for bedding – maybe Bed Bath and Beyond?  Also, maybe a dance school and a cooking school would be good too for visitors as well as locals. Chime in on the comments below, on what you think Cabo is lacking in the Shopping department – or comment on our Facebook page!

Red Rocker Returns to Cabo

October 13th marks the birthday of one of Cabo’s most famous and beloved sons. Sammy Hagar will be turning 66 years old this year and marking this milestone with another bash at his world famous Cabo Wabo Cantina in Cabo San Lucas.

Sammy, who is originally from Salinas, California, has become one of the most iconic rock stars this country has ever seen.

Sammy, along with his current band Chickenfoot, are still going strong – and make the month of October very memorable in beautiful Los Cabos.

So wear your red – and head on down to the sleepy little town they call Cabo.

Cabo Celebrates Sammy Hagars Birthday In October

It’s the biggest party of the year here in Cabo – and perhaps anywhere in the world. It’s the annual birthday adventure for the Red Rocker himself – Sammy Hagar. Sammy, known as epic rock-n-roller and ex front-man for Van Halen lives in Cabo and owns and operates Cabo Wabo, one of Cabo’s hottest night spots. (and the same name to world-famous tequila) Red Rocker fans treck the world during this celebration to make at least one even during Cabo’s biggest party.

CREAM Cafe – A Favorite New Lunch Spot & Coffee Shop In Los Cabos

There’s a new coffee shop in town – Cream Cafe Los Cabos.

This new find is in the shops at Las Tiendas de Palmilla.  I like my coffee! And I can be picky – but I think I might have found a new favorite. It’s the best around for sure – so if you are in San Jose coming into Palmilla  – stop and get a latte (my favorite).

They also offer a soup of the day, fresh sandwiches, market salads, pastries, bread, organic snacks, wine & beer and another of my favorites – champagne. They have coffees of all kinds – including tea and hot chocolate. CREAM is on the corner by EATS (another of my favorite lunch spots)!

Dining In Paradise – Edith’s Cabo San Lucas Restaurant Review

One of our favorite spots for dinner in Cabo San Lucas is Edith’s Restaurante, located a half a block up from the beachfront bars and restaurants of El Medano (Beach).  We go here often – just to eat, and we have even been lucky enough to attend cooking events (like the cooking event with Cabo Wine Club) with the owner, Edith Jiminez – who showed us some of her secrets to Baja cuisine.

Certainly you would know by eating the scrumptious selections that the kitchen uses only the most fresh veggies, spices and fruits in their creations. But after attending a cooking event with Edith, you will really understand just how fresh the food is. Our group was lucky enough to get to go to market together and prepare our masterpieces that same morning under Edith’s guidance.

Of course, the restaurant has been around a long time. In fact, on their website, we learn that Edith originally was a waitress there – from the mid-seventies (back then, it was then known as “Esthela’s by the Sea”) and ownership eventually passed to her, and the restaurant was named after her in 1994.

The location itself is quite colorful, and offers indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is hugely favored, sporting the famous outdoor mesquite grill, and sitting atop the hill just up from the beach. There are some fantastic views from Edith’s, as well as fantastic waiting lists to get in. Make sure you make reservations – especially if it’s on a weekend.

The menu offers authentic Baja cuisine, soups, salads and appetizers – as well as several ‘group menus’ for larger parties. The seafood selections are always a favorite because they are always freshly caught, and expertly prepared. They do offer a full bar, coffees, wine list (local and imported) and desserts – (don’t skip the Bananas Flambee- they’re TO DIE FOR.)

Edith’s remains one of our favorite year-round spots for fine dining in Cabo San Lucas.
